Jehu Pond Conservation Area

A town conservation area on the shore of Jehu Pond, part of the Mashpee National Wildlife Refuge partnership, with forest trails running to Abigails Brook and connecting to the Great Hay and Amy Brown Trails. A well-known birding spot.

South Cape Beach State Park (DCR)

State park on Nantucket Sound administered by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, part of the Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve. Wide sandy beach with dunes, salt marsh and walking trails; a large public lot makes it accessible to non-residents for a daily fee.

A DCR coastal state park within the Waquoit Bay Reserve, with the Great Flat Pond Loop trail winding through woodlands and wetlands out to Sage Lot Pond and surrounding salt marsh, plus barrier-beach walking. Dogs prohibited on the beach April 1-September 30.

South Cape Beach (Town)

Mashpee's town saltwater beach on Nantucket Sound, a narrow mile-long strip of sand adjoining the state-run South Cape Beach State Park. The town lot requires a Mashpee resident sticker; lifeguards and restrooms are provided in season.

Mashpee River Woodlands Loop

A trail loop through the Mashpee River Woodlands following both banks of the Mashpee River from its headwaters to the tidal estuary. The river is one of the last undammed rivers on Cape Cod and supports a wild Atlantic salmon and sea-run brook trout run. Old-growth white pine groves shade much of the path.

Quashnet River Valley (Quashnet River WMA)

An approximately 2.5-mile loop following both banks of the restored Quashnet River, crossing on an old bridge, through a wildlife management area renowned for naturally reproducing sea-run brook trout. Habitat restored in cooperation with Trout Unlimited.
