Mini Golf on Cape Cod: Every Course We Verified, Upper to Outer

Cape Cod was practically designed for miniature golf. Short drives, long summer days, salt air, and a culture that treats a round of putt-putt with the same enthusiasm as an actual round at a proper course — this stretch of barrier beach has more courses per square mile than almost anywhere in New England. Some have been running the same obstacles since before Route 6 was fully paved. Others are newer operations with waterfalls, pirate ships, and genuine landscaping ambitions.

We verified every course on this list. A few have uncertain current status — we've flagged those so you know to call ahead rather than drive to an empty lot. One is closed until Memorial Day Weekend 2027. And four Cape towns — Falmouth, Chatham, Truro, and Provincetown — have no course of their own; we've pointed you toward the nearest alternative in each case.

Upper Cape

Sandwich greets you right off the bridge with one of the Cape's most scenic layouts. Sandwich Mini Golf on Route 6A wraps 36 holes around the Cranberry River — you're putting alongside running water through most of the round, with native plants lining the fairways. It's a seasonal course, so check that it's open before you make the trip, but the setting alone makes it worth planning around.

Down in Cataumet — the Bourne village that sits on the edge of Falmouth — Cataumet Light Mini Golf anchors the Cataumet Crossing complex on Route 28A. Mini golf and bumper boats in one stop is a genuinely useful combination when you have kids who need more than one activity to burn through an afternoon. This is also the closest course for Falmouth visitors; there's no dedicated course in Falmouth proper.

Over in Mashpee, Poppy Mini Golf in Popponesset Marketplace keeps things relaxed — 18 holes in a breezy marketplace setting, easy to drop into if you're already in New Seabury.

Mid Cape — Hyannis

Hyannis holds two courses within a short distance of each other. Lightning Falls Adventure Golf at Steve & Sue's Par-Tee Freeze on West Main Street leads with a landscaped 18-hole adventure layout and prominent waterfall features, then closes the deal with an attached ice cream stand. It's the kind of place where a 45-minute round quietly becomes a two-hour afternoon.

On Center Street, Cape Cod Storyland Golf has long been a fixture in downtown Hyannis, but confirm they're open before you go — their current status wasn't clear when we last checked.

Yarmouth — The Cape's Mini Golf Capital

No town on Cape Cod takes miniature golf more seriously than Yarmouth. You could play a different course every day for nearly a week without leaving the area.

South Yarmouth has two standouts. Pirate's Cove Adventure Golf operates two full 18-hole championship courses built around a pirate theme — more ambitious in design than most Cape courses, with real elevation changes and obstacle complexity. It handles large groups without feeling chaotic, making it a smart choice for a birthday outing or a multigenerational family group. Also in South Yarmouth, Skull Island Adventure Golf & Sports World — longtime locals may still call it Bass River Sports World — puts a seasonal pirate-themed mini golf course inside a complex that also runs go-karts and an arcade. Budget more time than you think you'll need.

West Yarmouth offers two more strong options with entirely different personalities. Putter's Paradise Miniature Golf & Ice Cream pairs 18 holes of hand-carved Cape character — look for the whale and lighthouse figures among the obstacles — with an ice cream stand, executing the classic Cape formula very well. Wild Animal Lagoon goes in an unexpected direction: a safari-themed 18-hole layout with gemstone panning as a bonus activity. It's seasonal, so confirm before heading over.

Dennis and Harwich

Dennis Port is home to Holiday Hill Miniature Golf, a course that has been running since 1958. Eighteen holes designed around a Cape aesthetic, anchored by an 18-foot waterfall — it carries the comfortable wear of decades of family play. Its current operating status wasn't confirmed when we checked, so call ahead before making the drive.

In Harwich Port, Bud's Mini Golf covers 18 nautical holes with waterfalls, a cave, and a lighthouse. Compact by Cape standards but thoughtfully laid out — easy to fold into a beach day.

A few miles west in West Harwich, Harbor Glen Miniature Golf has 18 holes with a pond and waterfall set right beside the Weatherdeck Restaurant, which makes a dinner-and-golf combination genuinely convenient. Confirm they're operating before you plan around it.

One important note: Harbor Lights Mini Golf & Ice Cream on Underpass Road — a popular garden-setting 18-hole course — is closed until Memorial Day Weekend 2027 per its own website. Worth bookmarking for future summers.

Brewster, Orleans, and Eastham

Cape Escape Adventure Golf is one of the more distinctive courses on the Cape — 18 nautical holes built around actual decommissioned fishing boats as obstacles, plus a koi pond and waterfalls throughout. The fishing boat detail is real and unusual; it's the kind of thing kids remember.

Poit's Lighthouse Mini Golf has been here since 1954, which on the Cape means it's essentially a historic landmark. Three lighthouses and a 16-foot waterfall across 18 holes. Call ahead to confirm they're open this season.

Out in Eastham on Route 6, Arnold's Mini Golf sits right beside Arnold's Lobster & Clam Bar — 18 landscaped holes you can play before or after a classic fried seafood meal. It runs seasonally; check before you go.

Wellfleet and the Outer Cape

Wellfleet has one of the most genuinely unusual mini golf setups on the entire Cape. Wellfleet Mini Golf at the Wellfleet Drive-In runs 18 holes beside the Dairy Bar using the original 1961 obstacles from when the drive-in opened. These are not replicas meant to evoke a retro feeling — they are the actual obstacles, still in play after more than six decades. The course is seasonal; check the drive-in's schedule before heading out. For families based in Truro or Provincetown, this is your nearest course and worth the short drive.

Gift Barn Mini Golf & Arcade brings an entirely different theme — a farm-themed obstacle course with a tractor, a chicken coop, and a loop-de-loop. A combination you won't find anywhere else on the Cape. Confirm they're open before you go.

Martha's Vineyard

Off-Cape, Island Cove Adventures in Vineyard Haven on State Road offers 18 water-themed holes alongside a climbing wall. If you're spending time on the Vineyard, it's worth building into an afternoon — confirm current hours before you visit.

Towns Without Their Own Course

• Falmouth: Cataumet Light Mini Golf in Cataumet/Bourne is your closest option — mini golf and bumper boats at Cataumet Crossing on Route 28A.
• Chatham: Pirate's Cove and Skull Island in South Yarmouth are the nearest full operations; Bud's Mini Golf in Harwich Port is closer geographically.
• Truro: Wellfleet Drive-In Mini Golf is a short drive and a genuinely memorable experience.
• Provincetown: Same answer — Wellfleet Drive-In is your nearest option and the vintage obstacles make it worth the trip.

Planning Your Round

Seasonal courses on the Cape generally open for Memorial Day weekend and close after Columbus Day, though exact dates shift by location each year — always worth a quick check before driving out. Weekday mornings and early evenings move faster than midday Saturday. Most courses cover their 18 holes in 45 to 60 minutes at a relaxed pace.
