At ~1,200 acres, this is the largest town conservation area on Cape Cod, famous among riders as the 'Trail of Tears' (TOT). Roughly 20+ miles of twisty, rolling singletrack wind through pine-oak forest with short technical climbs, rock gardens, and patches of soft sand. Primarily a mountain-biking destination, it's also popular for hiking, trail running, and cross-country skiing. Note: hunting is permitted in season, so wear blaze orange in fall/winter.

A Barnstable beach parking permit or daily fee is required to park at town beaches 9am-3:45pm year-round. Resident permit $55; non-resident seasonal $375; weekly $110; daily fee $20 (at Veteran's, Kalmus, Keyes, Craigville & Sandy Neck in season). Some village beaches (Dowses, Hamblin Pond, Orrin Keyes) are resident/taxpayer sticker only.
Transfer Station Permits
Town of Barnstable residents/tenants only. Annual residential permit (8 bags/week of household trash plus recycling) or per-visit fee required. Buy at the Transfer Station office, by mail, drop box, or online.
