Skip the road and take the water. The Aquinnah Bike Ferry is a beloved seasonal crossing that carries cyclists and pedestrians between Menemsha and Aquinnah across the mouth of Menemsha Pond. A flat-deck boat, a short hop, and one of the most scenic rides on Martha's Vineyard — with views of the outer harbor and Vineyard Sound. A must for anyone cycling the island.
A Cape Cod-style house on Bound Brook Island that the National Park Service dates to about 1730, kept by Cape Cod National Seashore together with the barn, guesthouse and other outbuildings George Higgins added after he inherited the homestead in 1920. Higgins spent four decades restoring it and donated the property to the National Park Service in 1961. Only the main house is open to the public, on tours that run from late spring through early fall, and an interpretive sign by the lawn explains the complex. The way in is along narrow Wellfleet back roads, so give yourself extra time.
Parked across from Buzzards Bay Park near the Cape Cod Canal bikeway, Buzzards Bay Bikes is Jim and Pam Ballantyne's full-service cycling shop. Rent brand-new electric throttle and pedal-assist bikes, comfort step-thrus, tandems, tag-alongs, and child trailers by the hour or day, or trust their meticulous repairs, fittings, and maintenance. Bike sales, rentals, and expert tune-ups in Buzzards Bay, all paired with fast turnaround and genuinely knowledgeable, trustworthy service.
Bumper boats, batting cages, speed pitch, kiddie rides and arcade games orbit the Cataumet Light Mini Golf course in Bourne, where every round ends at Lazy Sundaes scooping Richardson's award-winning New England ice cream. Choose from 55 flavors like Cape Cod Cranberry and Death by Chocolate, piled into homemade waffle cones, thick shakes, sundaes and floats. Add chocolates from the Sweet Tooth Candy Shack for a full Cape Cod summer day.

It's the kind of shop you wander into for five minutes and come out with an armful of presents. Year-round hours make it a reliable destination even outside the summer rush.

At Mashpee Commons, Color Me Mine turns a blank ceramic mug or platter into your own masterpiece. This paint-your-own-pottery studio welcomes kids and adults seven days a week, with late Friday and Saturday hours, private rentals, ladies' nights, paint nights, tea soirées, and seasonal brunch events. Drop in to glaze, fire, and create, or book a Mashpee party where the whole table leaves with hand-painted Cape Cod keepsakes.
Run by the Truro Historical Society, the Highland House Museum preserves and shares the history of Truro and the Outer Cape in a historic former hotel near Highland Light.
Payomet Cirque by the Sea is the circus program of the nonprofit Payomet Performing Arts Center, and its year-round home base is a red-and-white Big Top tent at the WHAT Theater campus on Route 6 in Wellfleet. Each summer the professional troupe writes and stages an original show from scratch, with acrobats, aerialists and jugglers telling stories built around themes like ocean health, climate change and backyard pollinators. Kids can try it themselves at weekly summer Circus Camp, which wraps each session with a showcase for family. Classes continue into the fall for everyone from 3- and 4-year-olds to adult aerialists. Their graffiti-painted Cirque by the Sea bus is hard to miss. Stop by the Payomet Box Office in the plaza at 2616 Route 6 (beside PJ's) for tickets and questions; the shows and classes happen under the Big Top at 2357 Route 6.
The Pilgrim Monument is the tallest all-granite tower in the U.S. — 252 feet marking where the Mayflower Pilgrims first landed in 1620 and signed the Mayflower Compact, with a cornerstone laid by Theodore Roosevelt in 1907 and dedication by President Taft in 1910. Climb the 116 steps and 60 ramps for the view, then take in museum exhibits spanning the Wampanoag and Pilgrim story to a century of LGBTQ+ life in Provincetown. The Bradford Street inclined elevator carries you up the hill from town.

You'll hear Ryan Family Amusements before you see it — the flashing lights and game sounds spill right out onto Circuit Avenue in the heart of Oak Bluffs. This classic arcade is packed with today's hottest skill and video games, plus a prize counter stocked with rewards for every skill level. It's one of the island's most beloved rainy-day retreats and an essential stop for families, drawing kids and nostalgic adults in equal measure. Virtual reality experiences add a modern twist to the old-school arcade energy. Located just steps from the ferry landing and the historic Flying Horses Carousel, Ryan's makes it easy to build an afternoon around play. Open daily all summer, it's a carefree throwback to summers spent chasing high scores and trading tickets for prizes.

Falmouth's most unique night out combines candlepin bowling lanes and axe throwing bays under one roof alongside a full craft cocktail bar and wood-fired pizza. Whether you're celebrating a birthday or just looking for something beyond the usual bar scene, Timber Axe delivers serious fun in a lively, well-designed space. It's become a go-to for groups on the Upper Cape.
Wellfleet Cinemas is the Outer Cape's year-round movie house: four screens with digital projection and Dolby sound, right beside the Wellfleet Drive-In on Route 6. There are daily matinees all summer, which makes it the go-to plan on a rainy beach day. It's part of the Wellfleet Drive-In complex, which dates to 1957.
The Wellfleet Drive-In Theatre is a Cape Cod summer classic: first-run double features on a 100-foot screen every summer night, from Memorial Day through a little after Labor Day. It's been on Route 6 since 1957, and the field hosts the Wellfleet Flea Market on weekends from May, weather permitting. Pull in early with the family and grab a cone at the Dairy Bar next door. It's closed for the season after Labor Day — the indoor Wellfleet Cinemas next door runs year-round.
