A 310-foot ADA-accessible boardwalk leading from a small parking area through brackish marsh, saltwater cattails, and remnant Atlantic white cedar swamp to the shore of Swan (Seine) Pond. Ospreys nest nearby and follow herring and alewives that run through Parkers River into the pond each spring. Dogs are prohibited year-round to protect nesting birds.
An 800-foot wooden boardwalk extending across the salt marsh at Bass Hole, part of the Callery-Darling Conservation Area. It offers sweeping views over the tidal flats toward Cape Cod Bay and is one of the most popular and accessible nature walks in Yarmouth, with a seating area at the end overlooking the water. A classic Cape Cod sunset spot. Dogs are not permitted on the boardwalk.
A diverse coastal conservation area north of Route 6A stretching from Homers Dock Road to the salt marshes west of Center Street. Trails wind through salt and freshwater wetlands, abandoned cranberry bogs now grown into red maple swamps, historic saltwater bogs with original dikes, and pine-oak forest. Excellent birding. The signature Bass Hole Boardwalk is reached from the Gray's Beach end. Leashed dogs welcome on trails year-round (not on the boardwalk).
Over 50 acres of gentle nature trails maintained by the Historical Society of Old Yarmouth on the grounds of a former golf course donated to the Society. Open dawn to dusk year-round, the trails wind past a pond and the historic Kelley Chapel, with benches placed throughout. A peaceful, easy walk in the heart of Yarmouth Port. Dogs must be leashed per the Town leash law.
A roughly 0.8-mile trail along the southern shore of Dennis Pond, between Summer Street and Willow Street just north of Route 6. One of Yarmouth's most popular recreation areas, used for swimming, fishing, paddling, and nature-watching. Mostly flat woodland walking with several water access points; watch for exposed roots and steep slopes near the shore. Kayaks and canoes can be launched at the Summer Street beach. Leashed dogs welcome on trails year-round; on the beach only Sept 15-Mar 15.
A nature trail encircling a 12-acre kettle pond off Buck Island Road in South Yarmouth, between Camp Street and Higgins Crowell Road. The loop connects to an extensive trail network running north, west, and east toward Horse Pond Conservation Area, Chandler Gray Cemetery, Mill Creek, and the power lines. Adjacent to Sandy Pond Recreation Area with a beach, playground, and dog park. Leashed dogs welcome on trails year-round; on the beach only Sept 15-Mar 15.
A roughly 3.8-mile loop across 300 acres on the Sandwich Moraine, bounded by North Dennis Road to the east and West Great Western Road to the west. Home to the highest point in Yarmouth at 118 feet above sea level, with two scenic vistas and many side trails. The hilly, glacial terrain with loose rocks and narrow, sometimes unmarked paths makes this the most rugged hike in town. Bring the Town trail map. Leashed dogs welcome.
A wooded conservation area within a 400-acre tract, with the main trail running along the northern perimeter of Horse Pond plus spurs and connectors into the wider Sandy Pond trail network. Quiet, lightly traveled woodland walking with pond views. Leashed dogs welcome.
A 15-acre conservation area with an approximately 3,500-foot (0.7-mile) loop trail winding through wet woodland terrain around a man-made reservoir left from historic cranberry operations. A short, easy loop that's good for quiet nature-watching and birding. Leashed dogs welcome.
